More than dance fitness. We are family.
Chapter One
She Was Born to Move
From the moment she could stand, Karen Gibson danced. Championship Highland dancing. Tap. Ballet. Ballroom. Disco. Movement wasn't something she did to stay fit — it was how she made sense of the world.
In 2007, as a young mum, she made the kind of decision that most people only dream about. She walked away from the safety of a regular wage, qualified as a fitness instructor, and threw herself into the thing she loved. Within months she was teaching over 20 classes a week. Not because she had to. Because she couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Then life stopped her dead.
Chapter Two
2012. Everything Changed.
Her two-year-old son was diagnosed with a chronic illness.
Nothing prepares you for that. Not the career. Not the training. Not the years of discipline and hard work. Overnight, Karen became something she'd never planned to be — a carer. She kept going, the way parents do. Kept teaching. Kept showing up. Kept giving everything she had to everyone around her.
Until she had nothing left.
For someone whose entire identity was built on movement, losing the ability — and the will — to move was devastating. This isn't the kind of thing fitness brands usually talk about. But SOULSA® was never built to be like other fitness brands.
She had stared down something most of us spend our lives avoiding — the fragility of it all. And somewhere in that reckoning, she found something unexpected.
Clarity.
Chapter Three
She Rebuilt.
Slowly. Carefully. With fresh eyes on everything.
Karen had been given a second chance. And she wasn't going to waste it.
What followed was extraordinary. In just a few years, Karen became one of the most decorated figures in the UK fitness industry.
But Karen wasn't building trophies. She was building something real.
The Moment Everything Clicked
From That Place, SOULSA® Was Born.
Not from ambition. From understanding. Karen knew exactly what it felt like to be the person who doesn't feel at home in a traditional fitness class. The person who stands at the back hoping nobody's watching. The person who came once, felt out of place, and never came back.
She built SOULSA® for that person.
Chapter Four
The Party Brand With a Purpose
Low impact. High energy. Zero pressure. The iconic LED tambourines give your hands something to do — so your body stops worrying about what it looks like and just starts to feel. A simple 3-step structure removes the fear and replaces it with freedom.
It's not about choreography. It's about connection.
What started as one idea has grown into a global family of programmes:
At the Core Is Inclusivity
A Place to Feel Like Yourself Again
Driven by Karen's lived experience as a mum, a carer, a grandmother, and someone who navigates every day with ME — SOULSA® was built from the inside out.
This is a place to escape. To feel joy. To feel strong. To feel like yourself again — even if only for an hour.
That's not a fitness class. That's a family.
